Commuting Lincoln > Newark
I will soon be starting a job in Newark. And at present I'm contemplating the most cost effective way of commuting to and from work, either by train or by car. I have a car, which I share with my girlfriend although she doesn't need the car, it would be nice if she could use it as its over an hour walk to her work.
A usual return to Newark in the past has cost me around £7.80. I am eligible for a 16-25 railcard which would reduce the fair to approx £5.00. Is there any other ways of saving on train fairs? I would consider a season ticket / frequent users card, booking in advance and booking a specific train.
Any hints or tips to drive down this price would be much appreciated.

Here is a Season Ticket calculator.
Remember, there is generally a £12 minimum fare with a YP Railcard before 10am.
Editted to add...
An Anytime Day Return is only £4.50, without a railcard. Reducing to £2.95 after 10am with railcard. Where did you get the £7.80 from?0
