Tesco mobile £10 topup and 1000 points

The deal where u brought a tesco mobile and got 1000 clubcard points and £10 topup, sounds good in theroy. I got the Nokia 1208 for £14.95 so in essence £4.95 because of the credit. I thought I could use the £10 credit for anything....WRONG.

It won't let me use it for Text competitions like the gadget show etc where it charges you £1.50 per message. I phoned Tesco mobile and they stated because it is bonus credit??? they have decided that I can not use it for 08 and 09 numbers and text competitions!!!

Surely I should be able to use my credit for what I decide NOT them.

Any one have any views?

In my view, those text competitions are a load of old crap.

The poker player in me looks at those competitions with absolute disdain. Take a look at expected value and you'll see why.

Re tesco, the free credit is essetially them giving you free access to their own services for which they would normally charge £10 for, but in reality there is very little outlay for them, whereas for competitions etc, they have to fork the money over, thus it's costing them far more.

I would agree but I was just trying to waste the £10 as I have a regular phone I normally use.

Oh and they have told me if I want it unlocked that it will cost me £25. Reception were we live is pretty rubbish ie can't use in the house literally have to stand at the top of a big hill lark to get a low signal.

i giess tesco want to only give their own money away, rather than pay 3rd parties, regarding 0900 numbers..?

channel 5 seems to be the only channel without web entry options.. but fair do's, there is a LOT of kit on offer each week!
