Confused about VW GAP Insurance. Help!

Op - just in case you were not fully clear on this - GAP makes up the difference between YOUR OWN insurance pay out and what the car cost so if for example you wrote a 15K car off and your insurer gave you 10K the gap element would cover the 5 - not the 15.
You also need to check on the type of GAP - some are return to invoice so they make up the shotfall, and some only make up the difference between any finance you have on the car and your insurance payout i.e. car costs 15K, insurers pay out 10K for a write off, and GAP covers any shortfall to the finance company. All well and good, but if you owe less than 10K in finance then you get no benefit from GAP.0 -
