Unless you live in Wales and then it's free for students.0

Its not just students who should be aware of the PPC. I currently hold a four month one and in that time I have had 12 prescriptions.
If I time my repeats carefully, I can get another four before the card runs out and have enough medication to tide me over for a few months and then get another four month card. It works out that I can avoid paying for prescriptions for a year for the cost of just 2 four month PPCs rather than the one year one.0 -
Athravan, its not just students, it was anyone under 25. I much appreciated the free prescriptions when hayfever season came around. Viva la Cardiff0

i've never heard of this. I know prescriptions are free for students with a HC1form but not anyone under 25?What's it going to be, eh?0 -
It's not free for under 25s in England (was in Wales), and not without a valid HC1...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

Most students I know would need this less than the bulk of the rest of the population! The only medication most students take will be paracetamol!2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -

If you on a low income it's worth trying for , I thinks it's HC1 ask at you surgery they will be able to give you the forms, also help with the cost of glasses and dental treatment.0

The HC1 is well worth sending in, I didn't bother till a couple of months ago but I regret it. You just bring it to the chemists and get all your prescriptions free, dental and eye testing is also free though I think this doesnt include private dental.
Most students qualify, so long as you dont have above £8,000 in savings or £25,000 in property (excluding the house you live in) its purely based on the students income not their families.
The form is very long but go over it just to make sur you havent made a mistake or you will have to resubmit it, the same applies if you fail to provide diocumentation, this is usually just your student loan notification letter.0 -
i couldnt get a hc1 i was deemed too well off. get nhs bursary and boyf get 17k wage. we live together and have outgoings of £700ish per month, fair enough were not on the breadline but in the same way were not minted either and im sure ppl better off than me can get it!0
