How to renew MBNA deal

Having cancelled Mr Smartsaver's MBNA card with a heavy heart as had £18.300 credit limit, I now find it was worth it as Virgin card has been approved with a £18.500 credit limit.  ;D Maybe this is the way forward with MBNA cards    ::) Originally he was turned down for a Virgin as his MBNA card was still active. They would not transfer over the credit limit.

Once the MBNA Platinum was canx he called Virgin and they approved the new card for 9 months - hopefully with no balance transfer fee as he is a new customer ;)

I've just cancelled an MBNA platinum card with a view to applying to Abbey (backed by MBNA) in a few months.

Who will make the decision on whether to issue a card in this case - Abbey, MBNA or both?

I think it will be Abbey. Why wait?

Virgin approved ours straight away once the other card MBNA card was cancelled

I was concerned about the amount of applications I've made in the last few months but if MBNA are happy as long as you've closed their old card, I might give it a go.
