Wind down window
Last night I had frost on my drivers side window and wound it down to clear it. But then could only wind it back up half way, then only fiddling with the glass pane got it closed. Does this sound like a simple problem, like the window lost it's position, or will I need a whole new door?
I ask because I want to know if I should just live with this problem (if expensive to fix) or take it in to have it looked at (10yo micra btw)

Hey I think its just the matter of glass not much expensive you should get it done. Its just about the glass.0

It's probably the regulator that needs adjusting or replaced.
The regulator is a scissor type of arrangement that lifts the glass up or down. If the glass has moved slightly then it can become difficult to move in the runners. I had it happen to electric windows in a polo - if I pulled the glass forward, it worked no problem, but if left alone, it would sit slightly out of alignment and the motor couldn't lift the glass.
For a DIYer it's a visit to the local scrap yard, new regulator for a few pounds and a couple of hours tops to fit.
The car is no less secure than before so if you're happy to live with it then you'll be fine.

what? i thought the window was still intact, i didn't think it had smashed.
by what i read i though it was the window regulator or a sticky slide. some might recommed buying a silicone spray and spraying this down the side of the winow runners when the window is down, see if this fees it up before stripping off door panels....work permit granted!0 -
Good advice GS, also forcing it up hard in to the closed position may help if the window has just come loose from its lifter.0

They can go sticky (get some silicone spray from motor factors).
The regulator can wear or brake.Happy chappy0 -
Should I not be able to move the glass pane freely when window is open? (I should not have googled this!)
Very irritating problem at the car park today, winding window down for ticket machines.:wall:0
