Friend has a car which has it's rear tail light lens heavily tinted. It is hard to see the light at the rear. Are there any high wattage bulbs you can buy and if so where from?

Thanks
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

I'm sure the highest wattage for rear lights you can get is 21w
Edit to say Normal bulbs, may be able to get LEDs but would mean changing whole unit!

Vauxhall Corsa C's use red coloured bulbs for the stop/tail light. So you could pop into your local Vauxhall dealer and ask for one.

  • take the tint off? or buy new lenses before he gets pulled for it?

Get your tintd off or put some high wattage bulbs with relays they help them to glow more brightly !

If it's hard to see (due to the tint), it's illegal. Tell your friend he needs to remove the tint. If he has also tinted the brake light lens, he's asking for someone to drive up his chuff.

Halfords have their QR bulbs., but to be honest this won't be what you're after you won't see any difference. Remove the tints or put less darkening ones on, will look less cool driving in circles round maccy d's, but beats being rear ended.

thanks for the replies. Friend has already been pulled over twice for the tinted rear lens. Her being an attractive young woman she got away scott free after being breathalised. :rotfl:

True she does need to have them changed because the lights are not bright in the dark. One option is to get the lens unit from breakers yard.
