Praise for Topshop

Hi everyone, just thought I would share this experience:

In October last year, I had my hair done on a Wednesday and then popped into Topshop and bought a dress. The following Saturday I went on a night out with my friend and wore my new dress.

Over the duration of the evening, my nail varnish which was pink was turning a blue/ purple colour and I have blue marks on my hands. I had a bag with me from Primark so I assumed it was that. However, when I got home and took my dress off, my whole body where the dress had touched was BLUE!!! I also had a rash on my body. I jumped in the shower (at 2 in the morning) and scrubbed my body. I was in the shower for around 30 minutes before the colour started to budge. I also ruined three white towels trying to get the colour out. I then got in bed and when I woke up in the morning I was still slightly blue and I only just noticed that the ends of my hair were blue where my hair had been touching the dress and I had blue streaks in my hair where I had ran my fingers through my hair (my hair is platinum blonde, and had just been done and cost £60 just for the colour so I was devastated at this). Also, where I had touched the light switches, etc. there were blue marks which wouldnt budge!! The blue colour from my hair took 2 weeks to fully come out.

I contacted the Topshop store where I bought the dress and they gave me a customer service number. The lady was extremely helpful and apologetic and asked me to take pictures and write down my story and send it to them. They also asked me to send the dress back for testing. They immediately sent me my money back for the dress (£28) and sent the case to their claims handler.

Today I received an offer of £350 for compensation! I am very pleased and happy with the way the handle the issue. Turns out the dye in the dress hadn't been set! xx

Wow, that's pretty amazing! I'm surprised they didn't turn round and say that it was caused by sweat or something (not saying you're sweaty, but it does get hot in clubs!)

Nice one, just goes to show that complaining (politely) can go a long way!
  • I was surprised aswell!! They were so nice and helpful!!

Well that is good - at least some good comes out of a awful situation :(
Learning to be 'good with money'
  • The companies that look after there customers will get more business as their's no ad better than word of mouth, or posts on the internet.
