Pizza Hut pointless online ordering rant

What is the point of having an online ordering system that allows you to select a certain time for collection when you have to wait 20 mins when you get there anyway?
I ordered online at about 7pm for a collection at 8:30pm (this was last thursday)
Got there bang on half eight and had to wait just over 20 mins for my order. Took the pizzas out to the car to find that my OH's one didnt seem very cooked and was a bit cold. Went back into the restaurant to be told that they could either refund me (and I keep the cold undercooked pizza) or I could wait and they would cook me another.
When I asked how long that would take the manager told me the pizzas "only take five and a half minutes through the oven"
SO WHY DID I HAVE TO WAIT 20MINS FOR AN ORDER PLACED WELL OVER AN HOUR AGO???:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
The manager sorted out a replacement order (so we got another 2 pizzas even though mine was ok) so that was ok but it made me a bit angry that I had to wait 20 mins in the first place when he said they only take five and half minutes to cook.
I only ordered because I had a 50% off voucher, I said at the time I was probably going to be disappointed as we usually go to Pizza Express.
I certainly wouldnt order online again with Pizza hut, cant see the point.

Last two orders i've done with pizza hut they've been amazing - selected delivery for 19:30 both times and the first they arrived at 19:30, the second they arrived at 19:28 and both times nice and polite (and half price!).0

Unfortunately they dont deliver here (live in the sticks) so have to collect.
To be honest, I could understand a delivery being 20 mins late as there are a few reasons (traffic etc.) but a collection?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I think a lot depends on your local Pizza Hut delivery outlet. I've given mine a try twice in the last few weeks, tempted by the money off vouchers. I won't be bothering again - I'll buy supermarket pizzas and put them in the oven myself.
My first delivery was 20 minutes late and cold. Stupidly I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again a few weeks later (yesterday - a Monday - unlikely to be their busiest night of the week I would think). This time the delivery was 40 minutes late, too cold to enjoy and the order was wrong - "create your own pizzas" had become "we can't be bothered to order enough stock so we'll just make substitutes that we feel like making". I wouldn't mind but this is a Pizza Hut delivery only outlet - it's not as if they've got a restaurant full of customers as well - it's the only thing they do! I live five minutes drive from the place so it shouldn't be too hard to get pizzas from their door to mine on time and hot!
A tip for those who still want to try out these delivery offers (not recommended if you live in the middle of a large university city with a river and a famous chapel) - pay with cash on delivery rather than paying by card in advance. That way (according to the delivery driver) you can send the pizzas back if they are cold/late/the wrong order. It's much harder to do that if they already have your payment. When I phoned to complain about my 40 minutes late cold and incorrect order, I was given a code to use for free pizzas next time but when I asked the woman if it would work online she was not sure and she did not explain whether there was any time limit or whether it would be for two free pizzas (as my original order was for that). I don't fancy my chances ringing up, quoting this code and saying "But I was promised free pizzas!"0 -
Its a shame you cant pay on collection for online orders placed!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

Reminds me of a chinese takeaway local to me. You would ring through an order & even if you were a regular customer they would still only start to cook it when you got down there.
Considering some of the systems the pizza places have, it just sounds like someone not thinking about the process & realising that the pizza they're supposed to be cooking is due for collection any moment.0 -
pizza hut get on my nerves too as you cannot select a cash on delivery if the order totals more than £20. pain in the arris when your ordering £50 worth for a few of you with a 50% off voucher0

I live in Durham and pretty much all the Pizza Hut's are bad around here.
Durham being the worst, but Metrocentre one coming a close second. Slow service from students who couldn't care less, and are not professional at all. Reminds me why I dont go very often. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
