Newcomer question to the Nationwide Credit Card

the g/f has one & i've just had the PIN through for mine, so the answer to this interests me also.

She used her credit card for the first time yesterday. Swiped it when buying some stuff at Boots.

Checking her online banking yesterday - nothing showed up under her credit card account. Figure this is probably normal, it probably takes 24hours.

Check today and still nothing. Still says £0.00.

I can't remember how much she spent, but let's say £10.00

I expected it to say £10.00 balance with 1x transaction at boots.

But there's NOTHING showing in there.

Dont worry, it'll show up soon enough
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • The time varies a bit for it to get posted on your statement but the "Available balance" is normally accurate. E.g if your limit was £1000, it would show something like £990 available now.

I find it can take 2-5 working days for things to come up on my credit card statements, so nothing to worry about (sometimes to your advantage as it falls into the next billing cycle).

    .
Just checked. The limit was £1,500. It is still £1,500. Hmm. Shall give it a few days & then see.

Do they not have an "Available Balance" figure? Even Vanquis's telephone system reports the available balance accurately...
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
  • Just logged into my Nationwide account. When I click my credit card, on the top right it has:
    Account Balance: £0.00
Available Balance: £xx,000 <-- Is this the one that is still showing £1,500?

I'd give it up to 5 days before worrying too much about it.
  • Remember also that yesterday was a Sunday. The day of rest, so only count "working days" as they may not start to process it until today - although the transaction date will still be recorded as yesterday's.

Why are you bothering about it any way.

You will get your statement in due course.

I'm sure youve got hundreds of other things to do.

Boots could well be processing offline for a small transaction like this.

And the Nationwide site always seemed to be a working day behind with entries, so I would wait 3-4 working days and the transaction should show up, the availible balance will only show transaction that were authorised by the retailer at the time, not all are.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
