help. unexpected PAYMENT on my credit card.

Options
Hi folks, i've just looked at my credit card statement online and there is a payment on it that i didnt make, not a purchase or anything but a payment. The question is should I phone them to query this or just lie low and accept the lower balance with an open heart?

Could it be a refund? How much is it for? You could lie low, it depends on your morals. Surely it says where the payment has come from. If not, ring them to ask, the dopey customer services people probably won't care why you're asking.

It's for over £1000 and i'm not expecting any refunds on that card. online it does not say where the payment came from just "payment received- thank you"

Maybe a late Christmas present from someone who meant to pay their own card and typed in the wrong numbers. as did my son who sent me some money for Christmas direct to my current account from his, but instead of account 123345 he typed in 123445. Last report my money is last heard of floating around in the depths of India at a call centre!
  • yeah i've been thinking about it and i will call them up as I would not want to think that someone else out there has made an honest mistake and i would effectively "steal" it. I'll be honest and see what happens.
