With IVA's & DMP it is the creditors who decide what your living expenses can be and because they want their money they are not going to be very generous. With BR the OR tends to allow you to have more realistic living expenses, and the added bonus that if your circumstances change they will consider reviewing any payments to a IPA that maybe in place.
We found CCCS ok but nowhere near as helpful as NDL or CAB - you may have to wait to see a debt councellor but it is well worth it.

I do worry as well that CCCS seem to be setting up a lot of IVA's, which may be perfectly right for many people, but they do need careful consideration. You may just end up delaying the inevitable.

Kew63 - i think you probably summed up my worries with the 'delaying the inevitable' comment. There's so many elements of our income that at this precise moment in time look ok but in a month + are going to be worse that makes me feel i need to draw a line under this now. Even unpredictable stuff like our mortgage repayments - we're on a variable rate and not allowed to fix it - if it changes by even half a percent it's going to add years onto a dmp and i know as the kids grow they'll get more expensive and I just don't feel it's right that they lose out on stuff due to my business going belly up.
