Reclaiming PPI from MBNA while on a DMP?

Hi,
I'm currently on a DMP with CCCS and everything seems to be going (relatively) well.
My only debtor that has charged me for PPI is MBNA (credit card). They've currently stopped interest and are being (quite) reasonable about everything.
However, I can't get it out of my mind that I've had this card for ages and must have spent a fortune on PPI that could go a long way towards paying off some of my debt to them.
I honestly can't remember how I signed up for this card (was young and stupid) and/or asking for PPI.
Does anyone have experience of reclaiming from MBNA whilst in this situation? Did they carry on with the zero interest or did they get heavy handed (not that I'm that bothered, been through quite a lot already)?

Hi, you can ask for a copy of the agreement from them for £1 and it may (or may not!!) help in whether you ticked for PPI to be applied. You just send a letter requesting a copy of it and post by recorded delivery and they have 12 days to respond.deepintrouble wrote: »Hi,

Failing that, you can request a SAR from them for the cost of £10 and this contains all info going back 6 years or some get it going back further but may have details of how the PPI came to be applied to the account.

Hi there
A Subject Access Request (SAR) costs £10 payable in postal order or cheque payment, where they have 40 days to comply/send all the info they hold on you.
It is up to you if you want to request for the SAR, although they may only send info only going back 5/6 years, however in one of mine not the same bank I was lucky to receive info going back into the late 90's, so it may be the same case for you.
SAR letter template here:

For guidelines of reclaiming here:

Good luck with this and only to mention as well that if successful, the refund may be refunded towards any debt owing on the account, and anything remaining back to you, but this may vary from one bank to another.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

What I'm more concerned about is that they will start adding more inerest if I succesfully reclaim my PPI?"Life is a sexually transmitted disease....... with a 100% mortality rate"0

Hi there
I'm on a DMP with the CCCS too - and have just successfully got PPI back from MBNA on both a loan and two credit cards. The interest hasn't altered, nothing has changed and (touch wood) everything seems to be going along as before.
My advice - GO FOR IT
Good luck :jPounds, shillings and pence; I caught a dirty wench, I gave a cough, her leg fell off, pounds shillings and pence :rotfl:

I am also in a DMP, self managed with help from cab. I was having a sort out of old letters and paperwork that i have kept just in case i needed them for future reference and found that i had paid ppi on most of my accounts, without my knowledge and was told was compulsary for the loan and credit agreement to go ahead.
I see you can claim back these but do i send the template letters to the original account providers (ie halifax in which i do have the original agreement) or to the debt managemnet companies who hold the account now and do i require the SAR if havent got the original contract for the account.
Please advise me and also is it easier to get a company on board to re claim on my behalf?

Hi there
It makes no difference if your on DMP or doing your own, you still have the right to reclaim, however if successful it may just be the case they use the refund to pay towards the arrears and anything left will come back to you, but all banks vary from one to the other.
It may be wise to request for a SAR if you don't have no information on the accounts at all, but just as long as you have the account number details you can still continue to reclaim.
For more on SAR with details here:

You write to the head office data dept if they have one for the SAR, and the reclaiming side of it, if they have a PPI/insurance dept you write to them, address thread here:

In regards of reclaiming, this is useful - the guidelines of reclaiming, a checklist of mis selling reasons and template letters, they have 8 weeks in full to respond.

Fingers crossed for you, keep at them and ask for help anytime too, please also let us know how you get on, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
