Can anyone please help me out with a motherboard for Hewlett Packard G6062EA Laptop, I think maybe any 6000 series would work. Mine is just over a year old but HP won't help out. They want to charge me £267. I haven't worked for 12 years due to ill health so there is no way I can find that sort of money. If you can help please email me at hagalaz2000-fone@yahoo.co.uk. I am barely able to keep this thing going.:D

The old HP 6000's where notorious for MoBo failures after a couple of years, I can't remember the amount that I had to write off.0

There are one or two on eBay for the HP G6000 series, maybe worth a look or you could possibly try a computer fair if there is one in your area.0

If this is one of the HP laptops with the infamous NVidia graphics problem (badly soldered chips) are they not repairing/replacing them of they go faulty?0

What's the problem with the laptop? Some HPs had faulty DC jacks that cost a fiver to buy if you can fit them yourself with a bit of solder.Of course it means almost totally dismantling the thing first.0 -
Have you considered talking to the people you bought it from? They may be obliged to repair it if you can prove that it was an inherent fault (i.e. one down to poor manufacturing)Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
My wife's, which we had bought locally, had same problem at 13 months old. Took it to supplier who faked purchase details to make it seem still under warranty before sending it to HP. Got it back in a week with paperwork from HP saying systems board replaced and it has been fine. Sadly mine I got from Tesco Direct - cheaper. I am in touch with Tesco who are sending me a claim form. If no joy there I don't fancy the hassle of court. Thanks to all for advice and info'. Thanks to Tesco for making a settlement offer to me which I think is fair. Have lost money on this but while HP stink I can't fault Tesco for their efficient handling of my complaint. The money will go a good way towards a replacement.A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.0
