Hi all just been told we are posted to akritori in may. I cant wait im so excited but then also very frightened at the same time, OH is going to be doing a 6 monther while we are away so i think for some of that ill come and see my parents as is going to be christmas when hes gone, also going to miss my family loads. But other than that i cant wait im so excited, just wanted to know if anyone else is out there and what i can expect with the move and when i get there. We are going on holiday the first 2 weeks in may so im hoping they will come and get my stuff before we go then i just have to clean when i get back, but who knows, also got a dog and wondering what to do with her, and what to do with my car? might just get my dad to have it and get a small car out there?
hope to see someone soon and thanks for any advice anyone can offer?

    JPWhittle,

There is a manpower review going on over here at the minute. Its called 'Wavell'. Wont know the results till the end of feb.

Speak to your section over here asap for more advice on what may happen to your trade / section / posting etc.

Working hours for Tuesday i guess would be 07:30 till 13:00. Remember we are 2 hours ahead of you.

(Ive no idea what trade you are, but i do hope that John can run then 10k's faster over here than in the Lincolnshire Road Racing League).

    Regards,

    Alias

I presume you mean RAF Episkopi, in Cyprus?

I was there 48 years ago, 6 Sqn, don't think I can be a lot of help!

Akrotiri, that is, not Episkopi. That wasn't RAF in my day, Army.

    Changed.

Allowed into Ayia Napa 10am till 5pm or something like that now.

Again, all will be covered under the arrivals brief etc.

We were there 20 years ago and although now out of the Army, we're going back to Cyprus this Sat for a 10 day holiday. Although staying in Coral Bay/Beach area near Paphos, we've got permission to visit the base next tue. I think things would've changed a lot since we lived there but we did have a great time, we were a young couple with no children although I did have a 7 day old baby boy with me on the day we flew back to UK!! That baby boy is now almost 20 and 6ft 5" tall!!
