Oh thats great news. I know you feel like its a week of your life youll never get back, but it was worth it. Seems that Mr Planning Officer may well be aware of nutter neighbour and his antics too. Good luck with the porch!0

We was speaking generally and he said something and I said 'it is lovely around here, the people are lovely too, well, most of them, you know, it is why you are here'. And he laughed and said 'don't worry, every street has one, you just carry on as you are as you are clearly not interfering with anyone else'.
He even said that had we got an Apex and applied for planning permission we would have got it anyway as the shed is not in anyone's way. It was weird tbh I was trying to show him pictures of the before garden, my letter from the HA and inside the shed but he was not that interested. Just checked the height and went on his way.
He even told us not to worry about the clay at the entrance of the drive and to deal with it when it dries up as lots of people have probelms. And then told us we could use permeable blocks on there if we wanted.
You are probably right. Wonder if they get a few calls to this area then. At least now we know and if anyone says anything we can put them straight.
The wicked in me wants to keep just within the rules for the work we do so that maybe he get's in trouble for keeping on calling them out and wasting their time.0 -
Ahh he is well aware of his antics then and youre probably right, they probably have had a number of calls from him before. Well you know everything is above board, which is great news. Get on with saving for the porch and get on with building it when the time comes, I have no doubt that Mr Nutter will try and cause havoc again, just leave him to it, knowing that deep inside you have the largest self satisfied smug look on your face and he has no idea!
Im a great believer in karma, what goes around comes around if you leave it long enough, be patient and you will reap the rewards, standing above Mr Nutter on the moral high ground would be satisfying enough for me *snigger*0 -
I am glad that it has worked out OK for you.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Glad it all went well - it must be a relief for you.

I'm glad it went well. Planning officers are human too.
A few years ago we built a conservatory under the old planning rules. We had 70 cubic metres to spend but ours was a regular sized conservatory and so we though there'd be no problem. Of course the silly £$%* next door complained to the council - even though it was no where near her house - it was behind her garage and could only been seen by using a stepladder to see over a high wall.
The enforcement officer who measured it pronounced it (loudly) "only 48 cubic metres and you could build another, smaller one down the side, if you like". I asked for that in writing, and then build another, smaller one down the side - directly opposite next door's side entrance. Oh what joy we had using it as a junk room.I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
Good luck with the planning officer. We had years of trouble with an ex neighbour as we purchased land next to his house and built a house there (a very small house). He didn't want it there and casued all sorts of trouble. It was only because he kept on making false complaints that the planning realised that building regs and plans did not match up and we had an enforcement against us and had to pull down the back of the house and rebuild one metre shorter. Not our fault at all but a council internal error but we ended up after all sorts of appeals having to foot the bill. The neighbour moved afterwards to spain!
We also have a grumpy old goat up the street who watches neighbours and starts petitions. He tried it with us when we had a replacement satellite dish installed. Hubby put up the new dish, moved the fixings then hurt his back. A week later a council letter arrived where neighbour had complained we had two dishes. We apologised to the council for the nasty neighbour explained that once hubby was able to climb the ladder it would be removed and they were fine.
I've never experienced horrid neighbours until I moved to the street I live in now. I'd move if I could and then rent the house to pig farmers so he really had something to complain about!!!!0 -
I posted before I realised you have had the visit. That's great news congratulations - but still stressful!0
