Hi,
We've got a weekend break coming up with a travelodge booked at the Heathrow M4 services at the start of August. Rather than take a car into london, can anyone suggest a cheap and cheerful way to get in? Initial thoughts were park at a mainline station and train it in but not quite sure where. Any advice appreciated.
Cheers
Jeff

Hi,
There is an easy tube link at Heathrow Airport Terminals - any of them. Does the hotel offer a shuttle service to the airport at a nominal fee? If so, you could easily hop on that and then on the tube...
Hope you have a nice weekend!

hi , I just had a look at the Travelodge on the M4 website and it says they have discontinued the courtesy bus to the airport... Hounslow West Tube is 2 miles away but there is a bus service locally.. not sure which buses run from there but I am sure if you rang them they would be able to tell you if its feasible to get into Central London easily by public Transport...

Have a nice weekend
I have parked opposite Hounslow West tube on a Sunday for free, with absolutely no problem finding space (earlish) - there is a row of shops and you can park in front. Not sure about restrictions or charges on a Sat. There is also a car park (you have to pay) at Hatton Cross - might not be too expensive at weekend. It is also poss to park on A30 approaching Hatton Cross from the West though this tends to fill up quite quick and can be a lenghy and not very nice walk. Might be poss to walk through to Terminal 4 from here (not done this but told you can).
Otherwise there was a similar question a couple of weeks ago so you might get some other suggestions here
Sundays there is no congestion charge and it is sometimes possible to park in some places in central London - though, the Hounslow West option might be better.0 -
H32 bus towards Hounslow Bus station will take you to Hounslow West tube station on the Piccadilly line. If you check www.tfl.gov.uk you can check the nearest bus stops. Are you staying east or westbound?0

I usually take the car in as far as Hammersmith and park in the multistorey behind the main shopping street which is quite reasonable for the day. Then its a short walk to the tube. If you don't fancy going that far in try on of the tube stations a bit further out.0

Ta for that, do you have a street address for the car park? (Is it 24 hrs as I'm not sure what sort of time we'll be returning.

If you put the Travelodge post code (TW5 9NB) and Hounslow West into Journey Planner on the TFL website if gives you this map:
The entrance or Travelodge is actually on Pheonix Way which is a little further up. It's about a 20 minute walk to the H32 bus stop and a 10 minute bus ride to the station. If you're thinking about returning late you will have to leave Central London by 2330 to be sure of returning to Hounslow West before the tubes close. Also you will need to check the bus timings. With 2 children this may be difficult so if you could take your car as close to Central London as possible and park near a tube station that would be ideal.
Hope this helps!0 -

You take the exit off A4 (Great West Road) immediately prior to the Hammersmith flyover go down slip road to the roundabout and take King Street exit. Because of one-way system you go up Kings St then take a right across to Glenthorne Road and right again onto Glenthorne Road/Beadon Road the entrance to car park is on your right. Car Park is called Kings Mall Car Park. Prices & info below:
A 24 hour multi-storey car park is conveniently located adjacent to Kings Mall. There are 950 spaces available and access is via the first floor through 2 secure, well-lit pedestrian bridges.
Car Park Prices 0-2 hours 80p 2-3 hours £1.00
3-4 hours £2.00 4-6 hours £5.50
6-9 hours £7.50 9-12 hours £11.00
12-16 hours £15.00 16-24 hours £22.50
After Shopping Hours pedestrian entry to the car park is via Beadon Street
Hammersmith is zone2 on the underground. For public transport costs have a look at http://www.tfl.gov.uk0 -
Children travel on the london buses free all day and on the tubes free during
offpeak hours. Previous post has the TFL website listed where youi can check for yourself and save taking your car into London. Youngsters often find the
tube a bit scary because of the noise etc and usually prefer upstairs on
double deckers where they can see where they are going.0
