Silly question about mailing bags

Hi, up until now I have been sending out my eBay goods in "polytuff" envelopes, which I managed to pick up dirt cheap (because it was an "opened box"). They had a write-on panel at the top, including a section for sender. I've just been browsing for some more of these type, and all I can see listed on eBay or elsewhere are "plain" mailing bags (no write-on panel). My question is, can you write on mailing bags? Or do they have to have labels stuck on?

  • We've had ones through that have what looks like laundry/permanent maker on them.... never really works.

I can't really think what else could be used, can't see a biro cutting it.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
  • I write on plain mailing bags with biro and/or marker pen.

Sharpies used to work fine for me on poly bags until I got myself a Brother label printer.

  • I originally had some with a panel for the address - it had a very slightly 'rough' finish and permanent pen stayed put. Now all I can ever seem to find are the plain blue bags. Permanent marker does not stay on these if rubbed so I sellotape a paper label on. (Bit of a pain!)

I've got several permanent markers that write easily on my plastic mailers and don't fade or erase. My favourite is a Pentel N850 pen but I also use a thinner point sharpie.

Maybe that's where i'm going wrong with my 'poundland' markers. :)

I bought several packs of cheapies but I noticed that if I leant on them within a few seconds of writing they smudged, which worried me as it implies they are not rain proof. The ones I use don't smudge even if you try and smudge them as you go along.

Invest in some good quality ones as they last longer too. BIC permanent markers seem to write on anything
