MBNA feedback for anyone waiting

Hi all

I've noticed a lot of people asking about the seemingly endless time that MBNA are taking with refunding PPI and taking far longer than their original advised time - so I thought I'd share my feedback with you to help anyone waiting for MBNA too.

They agreed to refund my PPI on a 15k loan on a "goodwill" basis and, said they would be in touch with full details of the amount etc within 6 weeks of their letter dated November 3 2009.

This date came and went - when I called them they apologised and said it would take an extra 2 weeks.

I gave them to mid-way through January and they then said according to a "spreadsheet" mine was down to be calculated at the end of January. I called them on Friday and they said there has been some "movement" and the figures are currently being checked and would be paid in around 2 weeks (thus mid-Feb).

It is frustrating waiting - but I hope this helps some of you wondering how long MBNA's timescales are - and I will update you when the money is refunded, or indeed if they delay still further!

To give them their due I have found them to be polite when I have called them - it is just frustrating that they keep moving the goalposts. If only I was allowed to give myself longer when paying them their instalments
Pounds, shillings and pence; I caught a dirty wench, I gave a cough, her leg fell off, pounds shillings and pence :rotfl:

  • Hi Di and everyone

Just as an update - they have paid up today, hurrah!! Money was put straight into my bank account by electronic transfer. So, the whole process to get the money with MBNA has taken three months from the date of their letter offering to refund on a goodwill basis.

Hope this helps anyone else waiting.

  • Hi,
congratulations on finally getting you money:p

I'm in the early stages of reclaiming from MBNA, I originally wrote to them around 28th December, got a letter back early Jan to say they would come back to me in 4 weeks. Then I got another letter on Saturday saying they would come back to me by 1st March. Is this their normal procedure? They're literally not giving anything away.

Also, did you apply on the net? I've heard MBNA are refusing to pay those who have applied on the net due to the lack of actual selling done by then.

any advice would be much appreciated!!!

    cheers:)

Hi there - yes, when I first wrote to MBNA they said they would come back in (I think) 4 weeks. But I did get another letter saying their investigations were taking longer than expected... so it sounds much like your case.

Nope - didn't apply on the Net I'm afraid, so can't be any help here...

Good luck with your claim

  • Congratulations Chequeout for your win:beer::beer::beer:
I just wondered if you had a breakdown of how they calculated their refund? I have been successful with 3 mbna cc but the interest paid back does not appear correct I am about to ask the FOS to help.

In the meantime well done again:T

    Hi there

Thanks for your congratulations, I must say it is a relief :j

I'm afraid I don't have any calculations. They have only just paid the money into my account and say they will write to me within a couple of weeks so I'm assuming any calculations will be in this? To be fair to them, the amount seems about right - whilst I've not worked out the amount myself, I'm not overly worried and am willing to "trust" them as I am relatively happy.

But, sure - if you think their calculations aren't right then definitely pursue it - and good luck
