Hi,

Anyone had any experience using the online donation systems from https://www.justgiving.org or https://www.cafonline.org ? How effective has the fundraising been?

I run a small charity's website, and I would like to be able to take donations on line. Both of the above charge for their services and I'm wondering which one is best to go for. I suspect the actual level of online giving will be quite low so I don't want anything with a high set up fee or high monthly costs.

Any other suggestions for other organisations that will handle online payments welcome!

Thanks

Shim

I haven't had any experience from the charity side but I have used both sites with positive results. I set up a site on justgiving to raise money for my London Marathon sponsorship and found the site very easy to use, I found that people were sometimes more generous when they could use their credit card to donate than when they have to find actual folding cash plus the site sorts out the tax element for you.

I have used cafonline because I have a regular standing order through my company's GAYE schemes and have found this also very easy to use and the staff ever so helpful.

I've registered for this one after a bit of further investigation - it looks like a 'pay as you go' for credit/debit card donations. If the website ever starts to bring in significant amounts of money I'll have a look at upgrading to their regular payment schemes - although at £20 per month, plus transaction charges and admin charges, I don't think we'll be in a position were that will be cost effective.
