Bank of Scotland - Unknown Charges (not just £1 day interest)

I apologise if this has been discussed, I have had a look at a few HBOS threads on here and couldn't find anything to explain it.
I cleared my overdraft with HBOS as soon as I could when I found out about the new £1/2 per day charges. As it happens it wasn't in time for the change over, I was a few days out, so expected to be charged. My statement told me I would be charged £4.60 interest and I assumed this would be all I would be charged. However, I've also been charged £4 arranged overdraft fee. Does anyone know why I've been charged for both? I have checked back over the letter that they sent out regarding charges, and have checked on their website, but can't figure it out. It appears to me that they've charged me interest and then £1 a day on top of that??? But I just want to see what everyone else thinks before I go shouting the odds.
Many thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any replies.

Why don't you just call and ask them. Despite everything about BOS going down the pan after they merged with Halifax (used to be such a great bank before then), I still find I get pleasant helpful women in Edinburgh (sometimes chaps) when I ring with a query!0

Interest for the period 1st-5th December (the £1 fee didn't apply).
Fee for the period from 6th to 31st December (I assume you were overdrawn for 4 of these days).0 -

Really? Maybe I've just been unlucky, but I've always found it to take ages to even get through and speak to someone, I always end up on hold for ages. Maybe they just know I'm gonna ask a daft question like I've done here :rotfl:
That was my plan for this afternoon if I didn't get a response on here. At work just now though, and can't call from here.opinions4u wrote: »Interest for the period 1st-5th December (the £1 fee didn't apply).

Thanks. Doh! I must've still been half asleep :rotfl:Now you've said that it's so obvious that's what it was. Thanks for taking the time to replyStarted comping 29/10/2010

One of these friendly Edinburgh gals told me many moons ago just to press 00 as soon as the options listing starts and you get straight through to a human.
I've a feeling that might have changed to something else later, not sure, I'll check up and let you know!0 -

You press *0. Handy to know, also if you call the international number but drop the "+44" prefix, you get a landline number which can save a bit of money - 01133 809 574 (there's a couple more options, but you eventually get through to the same Telephone Banking IVR).
HBOS don't have any contact centres in Edinburgh. You were probably speaking to someone in Dunfermline, Rosyth or Dundee. See below:- http://www.hbosjobs.co.uk/contactcentre/locations/Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
I always use http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/callback.asp
Only takes them a couple of minutes, at most, to answer when I call.0 -

Yes that was the new code *0, thanks for saving my extra research!
The Edinburgh gals must have been before the dreaded H*****x merger when life with BoS was simple and you had decent service!0
