Secondary Glazing

Dear all, I have 2 windows in my house, which are single glazed and get very cold. I was thinking of putting a secondary glazing in. I found this website:
http://www.diyplas.co.uk

Has anyone had any experience of using them? I was thinking of going for the clear cast acrylicc, but wondering what it would look like. I want to look them like glass. Has anyone done it in different way? Please help.
Thank you

you will be mych better off with glass. there are firms around that will do them made to measure. Check glaziers in the yellow pages or Yell.com but don't go for double glazing companies as they'll try to sell you replacement windows. Having said that a mate went to Everest and asked for a quote for secondaries and apparently they never tried to sell him replacement windows. They came in, measured up, gave him a quote and left. he was well impressed but didn't buy though!

When i was a rep for Everest we were encouraged to see the secondry windows, i had them myself as did lots of the reps.
When i finally replaced the main windows 20 yrs later, i kept the secondary to the main windows so that i had triple glazing.

When I built my house in the 1970's the planners insisted on Secondary D/G for sound reduction. I bought some plastic frames with sliding panels into which glass was fitted. They worked quite well and were not expensive. The panels could be simply lifted out for cleaning and maintenance. I certainly would not recommend plastic panels. In any event, it might well prove to be more expensive than glass. If you Google Polycell secondary glazing. You should come up with a solution. I think that my system was a Polycell product. Try looking here.http://uksecondaryglazing.com/
These systems were quite well thought of before the huge expansion of the replacement window industry.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
