    Hi

The Miele S4000 Series with a 2000w motor starts at around £140. I can't remember the exact figures but I think the Henry has a maximum airflow rate of 45 litres per second whereas the Miele is over 70 litres per second.

Miele bags are about £8 for a box of 5 this includes the standard replacement filters. For an average 3 bedroom house I would say you would need 2 boxes of bags a year. Obviously Henry bags are bigger but if you only replace the bag twice a year, as someone previously posted, then you have got 6 month old dirt and bacteria hanging about in the machine, so I definitely think changing the bag every 4 to 6 weeks is a much better solution.

Hope this gives you the information you need on the Miele cleaners. You will also see some previous threads on the same subject on MSE.

After 3 dead Dysons, I gave up and bought a Henry. I would never change back - Henry every time for us!!!!
  • Thanks again for all the replys, Im now looking at miele too.

One question do any henry owners have thick wool carpet? I'm dreading making a purchase and still not being able to vacuum that room properly!

Henry, Miele Cat & Dog or Dyson (Mine lasted 11 years)
  • Don't like the Henry apart from doing the stairs and the car. It's so heavy to carry up and down the stairs and doesn't pick up very well.

I've got a carpet in a downstairs room. The pile on it is about a half inch, and I can't push forward with the Henry. It just goes bump, bump, bump, and bounces over the area, due to the force I need to get it to move. On that carpet, I have to lift it forward, then pull it back over the area. Other floors in the house are flatter carpet and lino, and it works fine on those. Despite the problems using it on that carpet, I'm still pleased with it's general performance and would very likely get another Henry providing I get a good couple of years out of this one.

Hi everyone, I'd just like to say thanks to the OP and everyone who replied for this thread as its been a great help to me in choosing a vacuum!

We've decided to get a Miele as its lighter than a Henry and better made than a Dyson. I'll let you know how i get on with it when it arrives :D
