UPS undercharged me and now want the difference

Last month I shipped a parcel with UPS. I took it to the local depot where it was weighed and checked in by a UPS agent, and I paid the shipping price that was quoted me (£64). Having not used UPS before, I had no idea whether this was cheap, fair, or expensive and merely took the quote at face value. The package was shipped on time.

One month later, UPS credit control have written to me saying that I was undercharged by the agent and now they want the balance (another £77). Note that this entirely about shipping charges and nothing to do with import duties etc.

Its clearly their error - where do I stand on not paying? Is there some article of consumer law I can throw at them?

  • Do you have where you were quoted £64? Personally, I would tell them to !!!! off.

Was the agent actually part of UPS or a reseller. If its a reseller I would have thought your contract is with them not UPS directly. I'd speak with the agent

If not though in UPS T&Cs it does say they have the right to charge you for any changes.
  • It was directly at the UPS depot - I probably have the original receipt, but im not sure that matters here.

Assuming you are a consumer (not a business customer) and you have paid the full requested price and the goods have been delivered to the address you supplied, the contact has been completed at both ends of the deal. They cannot demand more money.

They are not going to chase you hard for such a small debt. They have written to you more in hope than expectation. Ignore them.
