Lucky to be in B - but made redundant after working 40 years, so payout and pension makes up for poor pay, and I get some State pension. Looking back (it's easier) to post-war rationing and frugal upbringing, it helps one to value thrift in whatever form.0

How come I am supposed to be in the evil top 1% of earners but languish in the middle of the wealth league here??
There is a lot of wealth out there, and lots of downsizing possible for people.
I wonder if the timing of a house purchase has a bigger impact on their wealth than their gender, skin colour of how many legs they have. If I had bought my place in 1998 I'd be loaded but instead I bought in 2006.0 -
Nice to see the vast majority in B and C, we must be doing something right!
I'd be interested to see peoples ages alongside the results. I'm going to assume that most of the b's and c's are getting on a bit shall we say, me included
I'm on the borderline between B and C (but put myself down as C since B covers such a huge range).
I'm 39 - far from being a baby boomer - but I was fortunate with my family background (not rich but canny Scots and very sensible with money) and I bought my first house in 1995, just as prices were starting to rise again after the market collapsed. I'm still in that house but have since met my husband (whose financial situation & attitude was similar to mine) and between us we've now got a property portfolio worth around £670K with outstanding mortgages totalling around £240K. Then there are share portfolios and pensions, so I might be just into category B, but not by much.0 -

Yeh. I reckon timing of house purchase makes a big difference.
I moved to current house when prices were dead low (£110K for 4 bed detached) and got a tracker mortgage at base + 1.1%. Tidy...0 -
