I bought a dell charger sunday from ebay. Was only £17 and a genuine one.

  • I bought a non branded charger off ebay for my fujitsu and tbh it's got a better connector into the laptop than the original. Been using it a couple of years and I'm well pleased.

Well I bought what was advertised as an new, original Dell charger from eBay and it arrived really quickly.

There are a couple of differences in that it has no indicator light (my other chargers have a very small square that lights green when in use) and also the label states 'Made in China' whereas my other one was made in Japan. So I'm not sure if it is original or not now.

I bought a cheapo from Ebay and it wouldn't work with my Dell so sent it back and he replaced it, had it two days and I dropped it then it shattered, was very plasticky and flimsy. I then sent for a real Dell replacement from Ebay that was cheaper than the cheapo yet much sturdier, heavier and had an indicator light which the first didn't.
paid loads of postage in buying, returning, then re buying so wish I had got the Dell in the first place.

Your better off trying to get an official replacement. Some of the cheap ones are OK but its a bit of a lottery there have been quite a few cases of cheap chargers from the far east being dangerous or damaging laptops

not always - I had two official Toshiba packs and both times the wiring in the flex from the powerpack to the laptop became exposed due to the brittle plastic. Even though i was carful not to coil the leads to tightly, the sheath still fractured.
I have now bought a charger from Amazon which has jack plug adapters, voltage switch and a USB charger port for 1/3 of the price which is far better

I once fried a motherboard using a cheapo transformer. Very expensive saving.
