I appreciate thet Glad does a brilliant job in DT & the Arms , Just as the mods do when they recieve abuse reports .
The problem is that recently there are many threads expecially in The Arms , that are heated and far too personal .
As the mods & Glad are not online later into the evening , expecially weekends , I think it would be a great idea if there could be at least One if not Two other BG , who could lock the threads , or at the least monitor them .

I agree that in the last couple of weeks the kindergarten has gotten more unruly. Not sure another bg is the answer, as I'm sure that most users who watch those train crash threads and disapprove DO NOT hit the report buttoln, because they want to watch more train crashing.
It's about time everyone who wants the arms to be back into adult hands hit the report button. Some of the posts made lately were totally vile and deeply offensive, reported, deleted, yet the user in question is still there and gloating about his own "righteousness".Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
I agree Quasar , but I think that a BG would at least close the threads . I also think the poster you mentioned is way off the mark . How this has been misssd by the mods is frankly beyond me TBH0

IMPORTANT! This forum isn't moderated.
There are no moderators on this site.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
I agree, the Arms is a big place and I think its unfair (and frankly silly, sorry!) to leave it all to one person. A lot of the recent trouble could have been curbed if there was someone there to act.
There are only 2 other boards on a quick glance that have more threads than the Arms and DT, yet most of the other boards have 3 board guides.
This isn't a slight on Glad's board guiding, she can't be expected to be here all the time and she's had some unfair comments made about her guiding when people throw their toys out of the pram because she's the only target. Most sites have guides on a rota, ones that mainly come on in the morning, some afternoon and some evening, can't something like that be brought in?Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
I think somewhere like The Arms should be moderated in a different way to the rest of the board, and maybe some of the more vulnerable parts of the forum as well. I'm not usually an advocate of moderators...they peck my head on some forums i go on TBH, but that's mainly because sometimes you can see that they're blatantly biased towards their 'mates', and i think that might be a problem for any 'moderator' (as opposed to board guide) here...do you choose someone who's new and impartial, or someone who's been here a while and knows the dynamics and can decipher the more obtuse digs and deal with them appropriately, while still remaining impartial? It's a tough one. I have to say tho, this is the busiest board i come on, so i'm quite surpised at the low level of moderation.
I also think that a seperate section naming banned posters and the reason for the ban would work quite well here...i've seen it be quite useful elsewhere...0 -

I can't see that happening here, based on previous disclousures, bacause:
1. This site isn't actively moderated because (possibly in part) of legal advice received by Martin.
2. Similarly, when posts/threads are removed, often there is no indication why because of potential legal repercussion (as well as other possible reasons e.g. resource)."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
