B&Q Delivery...appalling service!

At the end of May I ordered a new kitchen from B&Q. I was really pleased with the service they gave and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I was given a delivery date of 8th July (today).
They rang me last night to advise that my brand spanking new kitchen would be with me between 9 and 12 this morning. Another great bit of customer service I thought to myself...
I had a builder, electrician and gas man all stood by ready to get to work on Monday.
But how wrong could I be? They called this morning to say that they were very sorry but my kitchen wasn't loaded onto the lorry at the depot and therefore the next available delivery date was the 2nd September!!!!!
They could offer no alternative and no explanation as to why my kitchen wasn't loaded onto the lorry. Even when I said I would cancel my order if they couldn't keep to their original committment the girl on the end of the phone cheerily said 'ok, fine, no problem at all'.
Now I don't know what to do...although I do feel better for getting it all off my chest. I guess the first thing to do is cancel the workmen and then get on with sending the Managing Director some 'feedback' about his company.
Does anyone have any suggestions for another company to try that might be able to supply a kitchen quickly?
Thanks for listening.

You have my sympathy. We've given up completely on B&Q and now go to Homebase - I don't know what they're like for kitchens though. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

I have been assured that it is all in stock - just sitting quietly in the depot - just waiting to be loaded onto a lorry. But the next available lorry isn't leaving until September apparently.
That's what makes it so infuriating...if I had transit van I would go and collect it myself!!!0 -
Get hold of the branch manager and unload on them in a constructive way - thats what I did when my kitchen didnt turn up - got it delivered at 9pm that night and then got £60 compensation from them for the hassle.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

We ordered a shed from their website a few years ago. When we ordered it it stated a leadtime of 21 days. A few days later we were e-mailed and told that due to high demand the leadtime had doubled to 42 days and that the delivery company would contact us when it was ready to discuss a delivery date/time.
Two weeks later my wife arrived home to find the shed panels and fittings dumped across our drive!!!!Matched betting profits since 11/10/06 = £1,5540 -
Ohhh - they drive me mad.
We got our kitchen refitted 2 years ago - and they never seemed to have anything in stock, or knew when it was arriving. If we had't aleady started with a certain type of wood I would have told them where to stick it.
Then they annoyed me again last week - we paid £250 for 25 x16ft ecking boards on the understanding that they would be arriving in store that night (Thursday) so OH was getting a van on the Friday and took the weekend off work to work on the deck.
Friday...no stock. Saturday...no stock.....etc. A week later we were eventually told that it would be arriving in another weeks' time. So we told them they could keep it, got our money back and went to Jewson's (and saved a little money as well)
