Selling furniture with house?

My friend is selling up and the potential buyer is coming today and is possibly interested in buying some furniture as well.

The furniture though a few years old is hardly used, of good quality in showroom condition. It is period style and in keeping with the decor and well placed.

He can't decide whether to sell indiviual items or a package and we would also like to ask your opinions on price, i.e. would you think 30% of new value, 35%?

They view at 2 oclock today so anyone viewing this thread we would welcome your comments and thanks/:beer:

Pricing second hand furniture when selling a property is very difficult. What one person feels something is worth to them, may be completley different to what somebody else is thinking. My parents bought an ex-show house & the builder wanted £4k for the furniture, it wasn't to my parents taste & they told the builder he could leave anything that was free, otherwise they would buying things that actually wanted.

Rather than go for a % of the original purchase price, your friend may be better of telling the buyer what each piece of furniture has cost when new & the wear it has had, then ask the buyer what offers, if any, they would like to make on each item.

Sorry Jorgan, missed your post and thank you that's a nice piece of advice:beer:

Personally I wouldn't go down the route of discussing prices on furniture until you have agreed a price for the property and are much nearer to exchange. At this stage I would just say that I am prepared to consider selling the furniture.

Silvercar, thanks. I should have been clearer these people have said they want the house and the agent has put 'SOLD' on the board.

They came today and we took your advice Jorgan, gave them a list of prices to take away with them.
They were pleased with this and said they will probably have decided on some items by Monday.
So thanks again for that
