I have an old Dell pc- what / how can i upgrade?

Currently I have used Apple's Macbook for a while, but Linux distro's are something I would prefer in this case(I usually don't prefer Windows anyway).
Some of the newer Ubuntu's are just great, you only really need to go to the command line if you want to do so yourself.
Great post, I at least recommend to try Ubuntu.

If this machine works the way it is, I wouldn't bother doing anything to it. It is worth about £30 at the most. Think of it like this -- if you had a ten year old Vauxhall Corsa, would you spend any money on it? No, you would look after it and drive it until it dropped.
The reason it won't play DVD's is that DVD wasn't common ten years ago.
