8 days to reconnect BT line when it was active 7 days ago? att BT rep by any chance?

Recently me and my partner have split and obv she has decided to take the BT line to her new place plus the broadband. ive just placed an order for a new connection on the line and the order on the BT website has said that the 8th Feb is the soonest the line can be active, i spoke to CS staff and asked if it could be activated sooner but he adv they were doing tests on the line, i sort of thought that was rubbish considering the line was working fine a week ago and 18mb BB via o2. is he right in what he says or cant they just switch it back on remotely? ive got both my old number and my new provisional number so any help in getting up sooner as ive no home line and much needed for work and stuff, using my iphone atm and as u can imaging not the fastest option.

thanks for any advice/help.

Why didn't you just leave the BT line on and migrate the broadband over? That way you'd have had no break in service.

When she upped & left with the line & bband, the are a few things that have to be done.
1-A cease is put on the phone & bband & the job is given to an engineer
2-The new phone number & bband then has to be reprovisioned.
3-A re-provide of service is then assigned to an engineer, who will go out to the exchange & connect the Tie Pairs to the new E & D side connections.

This is'nt a 5 minute job,8 days is very reasonable.
