will fixing those things remove the application they relate to? The Math player just allows mathematical symbols to appear when you read certain webpages, the Create and Print is linked to an American Greetings application for greetings cards etc. Auctiva for Ebay etc.
also, I don't quite understand the comment about installing things willy nilly. Are you saying that there are programs installing I don't know about? Surely it is quite usual for people to have various programs such as Ebay, Paypal, Microsoft Money etc i.e. have lots of stuff installed?
Sorry if this sounds vague but I'm not sure what you mean. Thanks again for your help.
BTW, what do the 'redirects' mean in R1 and R0? Are they harmless then? Sounded dodgy to a complete laywoman!0 -
Without me spending hours and hours of my time on researching each and everyone of them, I have a systematic approach to removing items I deem either dodgy or dodgy looking
Its entirely upto you whether you follow my advice or not but I would recommend you do
As for what youve put ~ the math layer might 'seem' harmless but I seriously suspect it isnt, same with the greetings card
The ebay item can possibly be hacked so I would really recommend you remove that unless your not bothered about losing money to hackers? Im 99% sure its not required to use ebay either
Willy nilly ~ youve 'allowed' things to install that you really shouldnt have
Some might also have gotten on simply as you dont have the right security on:idea:0 -
will check on the google redirection later. Thanks.0

Have just tried to get to a website via the Google search engine and I'm still being redirected to seemingly random websites. So the problem's still there.
Could this be related to the redirect codes under R1?
Any other suggestions, please. Thanks once again.0 -
What browser are you using? Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Reset internet explorer
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.:idea:0 -

I'm surprised you're not hitting this one with combofix.
It seems to be the most successful with most versions of Google Redirect.0 -
have reset internet explorer but still problems with diverting from Google search page. Also new internet explorer pages opening unsolicited. Was happening on Mozilla too.
Does this mean the virus (or whatever) is still there? Or can it have this effect even though it has been removed?
What next please? Thanks0
