Pet Insurance - got Sainsburys.

My parents went through a bad time at the end of last year with their poorly and old uninsured dog.
I was determined to ensure i had pet insurance for our new kitten - a British Blue called Basil.
I looked around and have paid £174 for an annual policy and I am getting double nectar points for 2 years as well.
It was not the cheapest premium but it had the highest amount of cover and my parents situation spooked me into ensuring i had enough cover.
Anyone had to claim through Sainsburys?

I think Sainsburys is a per condition policy. A pot of money is for a condition and when that runs out thats it. Personally I prefer the policies that have a pot of money that is renewed each year so if the animal has a long term condition they will be covered. £174 sounds quite expensive to me for one pedigree cat. Our Ragdolls cost just over £100 a year and our Norwegian Forest cat is cheaper as are our moggies. Not including a discount for multiple animals. Thats for per year cover not per condition through M&S0

If your kitten has any problem needing veterinary treatment in the next year this will not be covered when you change insurer. Is there a cooling off period with Sainsbury?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Sainsburys isnt for life - it would pay to change now if you have only just taken out the policy - you have 14 days to change your mind. If your pet starts a condition during the first year then you wont be able to change to another insurer.0

if you are still in your 14 day cooling off period, please consider changing to a proper 'for life' policy, where the amount you claim renews each year, as opposed to be ing a fixed amount that has to last the whole of the pet's lifetime. axa, petplan and nfu all offer this type of policy. if you wait until your renewal date next year anything you have reported to the vet will be excluded form your new policy.0
