NDISRD.sys 0xc0000098 error on my computer

Options
Oh , no, I think I have some big problems

I bought a computer from a friend with Vista installed.
I was on the computer today installed a few devices (webcam and sony MP3) and then restarted the computer.

Then on restart I got problems

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert you windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2.Chose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer
manufacturer for assistance.

File: ndisrd.sys

status 0xc0000098

info: windows failed to load because a required file is mission or corrupt.

I havent got the disc as it came with the vista already on it.

Am I in big trouble

Thanks

And when you press F8 on boot-up what other options are provided. There should be provided an Advanced Boot Options menu (this is without inserting any disc).

    ^From said thread.

I press del to enter setup and F8 to enter BPS setup.

^You see none of these options after pressing F8, Advanced:

after pressing f8 ot comes up
    repair your computer
    safe mode
    safe mode with networking
    safe mode with command prompt

    enable boot logging
    enable low resolution video
    last known good configuration
    directory services restore mode
    debugging mode
disable automatic restart on system failure
    disable driver signature enforcement
    start windows normally

And are you able to select Last known good config...or safe mode?

Perhaps if you have a dual-boot setup, otherwise I would think not....unless you want an absolute clean install with XP instead - a different kettle of fish entirely ;)

Is it a virus or a legitimate vista file?
