Child Benefit/DLA exclusion

Hi,

Was wondering whether anyone had any knowledge on this..... recently the law changed when calculating housing benefit\council tax entitlement and now all child benefit and DLA is excluded an income for calculation purposes.

Previously i believe that ALL household income was counted and this meant that some people recieved less than full HB/CT benefit if they went over the bottom threshold.

Does anyone know for an IVA/IPA calculation whether they have followed suit?.... as far as i can tell they haven't and was wondering if this is fair?.

Have posted this on the B/R forum too

Thanks

When doing my SOA for my IVA all of our household income was included - so that included child benefit, tax credits, DLA and Carer's Allowance.

However, the approach taken by CCCSVA was that the DLA and Carer's Allowance should be offset by 'costs arising from disability'. So it was c. £450 extra income but c. £450 extra expenditure.

    Hope this helps.
  • Emos - any monies coming into the household is calculated as the Total Household Income ... salary, child benefit, dla, tax credits, income from lodger or rented property, child maintenance, pension ...

In turn however if there is an increased expenditure due to costs arising from a disability or having to pay child maintenance etc this must be shown in the expenditure list ...
