Flights to Newcastle

Hi All,

I am hoping that is the right section of the forum to post in.

We are currently arranging a Stag Do to Newcastle on the 26th February and returning on the 28th.

We are looking to fly up from any airport in London on the Friday and return on the Sunday.

We have managed to arrange accomodation and activities but it is now costing a fair bit on flights. We would go by train but that was working out just over £100.00.

Using Skyscanner last week, we managed to locate flights for £58.00 return - however looking today these seem to have jumped up to £74.00.

Does anyone know any cheap deals on flights up there?

Many thanks for your help.

Nick

Sorry can't help with th air travel, but by train, an Off Peak Return Kings Cross to Sunderland with Grand Central Trains is £71.00.
Three trains on each of those days at that price.
An Anytime Single Sunderland to Newcastle and vice versa is £2.90.

Using Advance Singles it is possible to do Kings Cross to Newcastle return for £64.55 on those dates, but you are restricted to travelling on the booked train.

Great. More drunks coming to party city.
  • The train fare to Newcastle with East Coast only comes up at £64.55 and there's plenty of trains on that price, much easier than going to Sunderland. Go directly to the East Coast website

BA to Heathrow is an option, normally surprisingly cheap

FlyBe from Stansted is also an option alongside Easyjet

Not on the dates the OP wants... must catch the 07:30 Kings Cross departure to get that fare.

I too would recommend the train, as getting to and from the airport at either end, plus parking etc is going to bump the price up somewhat.

Go for advance fares, yes, you'll have to travel at funny times, but that's how you get the cheap tickets!

I'm doing Newcastle to London in a couple of weeks for £33 return.

Very good advice from Mark. I regularly travel to London from Newcastle by train and by pre-booking and using the over 60 or student card, the fare is less than £20 return. The whole trick is to book as soon as the fares come out. Unfortunately the OP has left it too late to bag the best times and fares. Three hours from city centre to city centre (handy for the Bigg Market and Quayside!) by train is faster than the plane by the time you take the associated travel time into account, and far less hassle.
