Is it worth leaving the property ladder for 2 years?

I'd get on with selling it and enjoy the flexibility of renting if it was me. What if prices fall in the next 2 years?
This is something we were thinking along the lines of. I personally suspect that the reason we've seen a resurgance in house prices is down to wealthy investors purchasing buy to let properties because their money is currently returning such little interest when in savings accounts.0 -
If there is parking at the hospital then I would use it when possible.
she must be able to travel off peak away from rush hours even if it means going in early, As has been sugested use the time to do study.
20miles should be 30-45mins even with a bit of traffic thats what what we were doing(same as you oposite directions) for years and managed it fine without a big impact on our lifes.
£60 - Girlfriend's parking at university/hospital
What about this as a £50 option

dos she know anyone in the keyworker ccomodation that has a parking space but no car?0 -
Hi there,
She did initially try public transport, however the train and bus services she had to rely on didn't work together very well and she'd frequently be waiting at the train station for an hour because her bus was running late and she missed her train.
She also quite often has to start at 7AM or leave at 10 PM when public transport in our neck of the woods seems to either not started up or have wound down.
Public transport certainly isn't perfect, but an hours wait at a main station is not a major deal if you have textbooks/ laptop with you, whereas time spent driving is always completely wasted and costs a fortune. Obviously hanging around at a tiny station might not be safe. Could you not pick your girlfriend up or drop her off at the station on the days she has to work early and late shifts? Presumably she isn't stuck in traffic getting terrible miles to the gallon on those days anyway?
What I am saying is just because your girlfriend drives one day doesn't mean she needs to drive every day. I think you might find it useful to weigh up each shift by how much the time and money each route 'costs'. Have you looked into car sharing with someone else within the hospital even if it's not a regular thing? If I was starting at 7am I'd be looking for a way to stay overnight because I loathe and detest mornings!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

On a study day, girlfriend has to set off for uni at 7AM to get the park and ride bus at 8:15AM, in order to be in her lecture for 9.
On placement, if she uses the park and ride she has to leave at 6 to get to the P&R for 6:30 and get the bus to the QMC for her shift starting at 7.
Alternatively, if we pay for parking, she can leave at 6:15-6:30 when on placement.
Unless you leave very early in the morning, Traffic on the A46/A52 to Nottingham is very bad. I think an upgraded car would be in order for fuel consumption improvements, however can't afford one0 -
According to this there is a quarterly parking ticket for £25, is it clearly prohibited for staff to use this? If so what concessions are there for staff safety late at night and early in the morning?

Just spoken to her, she's already investigated this one. As she's a student, she isn't classed as staff so is stuck in this respect.
I will get her to chase this further though.0 -
If that quarterly parking ticket is only for patients and visitors, get your girlfriend to get it in writing that she is not staff. In that case she will be a visitor and entitled to use a visitor parking permit!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Thanks for the advice. I'll get her to investigate this ASAP.
I guess the main bone of contention I have at the moment, is that some sources say house prices will rise, others say they have a further 17% to fall. There would be no point in us staying if this is the case.
Moving to Nottingham would certainly be better from a lifestyle perspective - more to do and see, but I don't want to do this at the expense of our finances.0 -

No one on here knows.
You must make a decision based on your lives and individual circumstances.Been away for a while.0 -

I read it on the Telegraph website from an article dated October Last Year
I can't post links on this forum yet (due to being a new user), however if you paste the following into Google it will bring up the article ;
+"House prices 'have further 17pc to fall'"
