Help -Water getting hot but everything switched off...?!!

hello,
I have oil central heating which does the hot wateraswell if I select it, and a normal immersion heater switch for electric water heating. The electric function has stopped working perhaps 10 times in 3 years, and the estate sends an electrician each time.
Anyway, the electric one stopped working again on friday, so I put the oil water heating switch on for half an hour last night about 8pm, and then everyone had washes/did washing up etc used some water, also some washes and washing up this morning, and normally it would be tepid or almost hand-hot by now, but its really hot, almost scalding! What could be wrong?
It seems to be heating up even though nothing is switched on.
I know the oil always makes the water hotter and quicker, but we used loads and its still red hot - not normal. Should I switch off the fuse in the fuse box?
Thanks!

maybe the 3 port valve has stuck open on the hot water side?

try moving the small lever on the side to release it.

If you mean for the immersion heater then the answer is yes. It sounds like you are heating the water twice with oil and electric. I am gobsmacked that they have sent an electrician out to this 10 times in three years and its still borked!

Ask them to send someone competant next time.

    Cheers

    Hi

Do you have a thermostat on the cylinder and, if you have, what is it set at.?
Do you have a 3 port valve like the one in ormus's pic. or two valves that look similar?
I would agree about the immersion heater . What goes wrong with it each time?
If the oil boiler still fires up when the programmer is switched off then I don't think it's wired up right. (you do have a programmer?)
