faulty car service

Can anyone advise. Been to same garage for over 12yrs no problems. End last year they started changing parts and not connecting wires. Latest problem changed starter motor. Next morning car would not start. Garage came round ( under pressure and very sarcy) jump started and told me batts were flat. Told me to drive to work and batts would charge. On way to work car had to be recovered back home. Recovery said was alternator even though I felt was connected to latest job. Lost confidence in my garage due to past few problems as same as above. Got alternator changed else where and car still not going. Changed batts still not going. Got wires from alternator to batts checked and found a wire not connected to starter motor. All worked ok after that. However was advised lucky not to have a fire due to 'arcing' under bonnett when first drove when jump started. Trying to get garage to pay for damage, alternator, batts and wire repair. What do people think I should do ?

Thanks
Janet

TBH im not sure, as the other garages should have checked and seen something as serious as this. Did you brief them on the issue or did you just buy parts and ask them to fit them. I would definitely push for a refund (partial maybe) on the labour from the original garage. You should speak to CAB about this and seek legal advice.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

The fact the other garages changed the alternator, battery etc shows that the fault wasnt the obvious one and imo shows the garage didnt act negliently.
