The obvious differences I suppse being that the Luddites were prepared to try and make known their plight of not having jobs in a much more passionate way than we imagine the stereotypical chav- staffie at heel, sovereign at knuckle, spider web tattooed elbows lifting the can of stella to stubble surrounded lips :D- moaning "I can't getta job can I? All the fucking polskis are nicking 'em"

    And that presumably the Government were no paying them handsomely for their protests? :cool:
