Don't worry, she will be getting tired soon!
My boyfriend has gone out with his best mate and friends in Halifax tonight and I have been worrying about him- we hardly ever drink and he told me he was having Jaegerbombs! I could tell by the quality of his txting how bad he was a couple of hours later, but he just sent me one that he is on his way home and it was completely readable :D

she'll be fine, panic in the morning. You could send her a txt to make sure she's ok though. Have left my daughter in dubious company tonight and she's not called me or txt'd. Gonna kill her when i get my hands on her.

If she takes the mick about coming back *really* late tonight, perhaps just gently explain that you were a bit concerned and ask that next time she tells you approximately what time she expects to be back, and sends you a text if she is running late, so you can go to sleep and not worry until after that time.

It is more of a courtesy than a curfew, to be honest. Even when I was in my 20's and staying at university, when I was home I would let my folks know approximately what time to expect me back, (along the lines of before midnight, after midnight, late or very late) and after one embarassing incident always made a point of getting home before my parents' usual wake-up time. It meant that they could get to sleep and not worry if I wasn't home.

Even when I still had a curfew, I used to circumvent it by bringing the boyfriend and sometimes friends home with me. At least then my parents knew where I was, even if it meant putting up with a lounge full of teenagers!

This is probably going to sound really daft, and before anyone says it I probably won't manage it when my girls are older.

When I used to go out at 16/17/18 my Gran and Grandad used to go to bed. They would wake up if I had to telephone them in an emergency and if anything horrid had happened to me or if I'd stayed out all night without warning them beforehand or letting them know and there was going to be a row then they said they'd much rather deal with it after a good nights sleep. I dare say it probably took them a while to be able to do that (they had lots of practise with my Mum who was a real party animal by all accounts!), but I can understand their thinking.

The first couple of times I had no curfew I stayed out really, really late just because I was allowed. After that I realised it was quite boring unless it was for a specific thing. You are doing the right thing trusting her. I was trusted and repaid my Grandparents by respecting them. One of my friends had curfews when we were nearly 20, if we went clubbing she had to be picked up by her Dad and she had to ask permission to eat elsewhere and the likes. Her relationship with her parents is awful now as she felt like she had to lie and keep things secret otherwise she wouldn't be allowed to do the same as her workmates (at 20+!!) and it caused lots of rows.
  • My kids didn't have a curfew, but they had to tell me what time they would be in by, & woe betide them if they were late. It seemed to work pretty well.

Your 16 yo was still out at nearly 2am? I assume you know where she was and she had phoned to let you know she is safe?

If my daughter tried that (and didn't phone) she would be back to having a curfew next weekend lol :D

My daughter doesn't live with me, she's 19, has her own place, but still got some verbal abuse this morning for not letting me know she was safe. A txt msg is all it takes.

I never had a curflew, but then I rarely went out:cool:. My parents used to go to bed but I knew full well they didn't go to sleep until I was in. I knew they finally trusted me the night I decided there was no point trying to be silent as they wouldn't hear anything over their snoring:rotfl:
