Hi everyone! found out yesterday that I am expecting. very chuffed as is partner and both families. we have been together for 6 years and I think people were wondering when it was going to happen! I bought the cheap tests from saver, 2 for 99p. they both came out negative! then the next day did a more expensive one (a predictor one from Home Bargains only £3.49 and £8.79 in Boots!) and that was positive! (even thought the dot was very faint). I am apparently 5 weeks gone and due on march 7th. So if anyone has any handy tips or hints and of course any money saving ideas pls share!!!

Congratulations!!!
I will say though - only take advice if you have ASKED for it in the first place. You will get bombarded with advice left right and centre. You know your own body (and eventually your LO) better than anyone else, so don't underestimate your instincts.0 -
Congrats to you and your partner!

:T Congratulations :T
Have a quick search on these forums and you'll find more info that you could ever want
My own tip is: As its bootsale season you'll find loads (if not millions) of baby clothes for 10p or less each, as everyone sells their old ones and if you get white you can dye them funky colours

Congrat Kristi!!! As previously suggested try hunting car boot sales etc to get some second hand stuff. I know may new parents want new things but if you are on a budget it is not always possible.
Have a hunt on ebay if you can stand the excitement on the bidding for both new and used things. My sister has just sold all of her bits n pieces or I would have given you her username! There are thousands of items on there that I am sure ou would be able to use.
It never hurts to be a bit cheeky like my sister was. She volunteered me to hold a 'baby shower' for her when it got nearer her first due date. This is a thing that is slowly coming to the UK and growing more popular (hunt we web for ideas). I hosted it in my house, invited all her friends and family and everyone arrived bearing gifts. A good way to get a little more as they all still bought when they baby had been born aswell! The best thing is they mostly ask what you need so you can always provide a list of things and end up with most of it.....
Another tip - my sister used the 'cotton bottoms' nappies. These cost her an initial outlay of approx £450 but that included the cloth nappies (up until potty training age), waterproof liners, nappy liners, fluid, and she bought 2 nappy buckets for the bathroom. Everytime one got taken off the liner went down the toilet (just like toilet paper!), the nappy got flushed while holding onto it, and then went into the fluid in a bucket, and the outer liner got re-used unless totally soaked/dirty. The liners and nappies then all got washed at the end of the day and she put a disposable on at night when they got a bit older. She worked out that including more nappy fluid/liners and electricity for washing she has saved multiple thousands of pounds between her two children. The nappies have also been used by her s-i-l daughter and now they have been passed onto a friend. Something to think about trying......
Good luck in your pregnancy and don't forget to scour websites and look for those all important money off coupons for the essentials!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Congratulations. :j
I've got four children and I often remind myself of the phrase that I've got as my signature. hth.
If you love your little one and teach him/her to love, that's the most important thing! There's a bewildering amount of stuff marketed at parents, but you'll know deep down what is worth parting with cash for.
I had quite a bit of new equipment and clothes for my first one, and found that they quickly looked "second hand". Check out your local nearly new sales, NCT often does them. Some second hand baby clothes have barely been worn and may even look brand new.
My baby number four has never been very interested in baby toys, and much prefers pans, funnels, wooden spoons, etc from the kitchen - safety permitting, of course. You will probably be your baby's favourite toy of all for the first months and years!
Congratulations, fantastic news. I hope you sail through your pregnancy - I bet you're glowing already!"By not unsettling men, you will reassure them. By unsettling men either through timidity or malice, you are always compelled to keep a knife in hand." - Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-15270
