It has been shown that collagen type I and III make up 90% of the body’s collagen and are found naturally together.Collagen type I provides strength to mechanical structures such as bones, whereas collagen type III plays an important role in the area of healing, moisture and elastic organs such as ligaments, skin and tendons.

Type I and type III can be made from bovine (beef) porcine (pork) or fiscine (fish). Collagen is best hydrolyzed and then broken down into a polypeptide for maximum absorption. This is then added to food such as our tasty marshmallows and can be ingested orally.
nor did I, just look on HNicks site. Hope this enlightens you ..... off now to see Piers.
Amanda, I hope all that enlightened you too.
The key facts that HN are giving you are these:
Collagen is essential in the body. So far so good.
Collagen occurs in meat products. So far so good
Collagen can be broken down, ingested and then digested. This is where the problem lies. What you absorb in the gut aint collagen anymore!
So eating collagen-containing products to get collagen into your body is not entirely logical. It won't work. HN even tell you this, stating that it is broken down to other compounds to aid 'absorption'. But that's not absorption of collagen...0

So what we're basically saying is that we take some pig whiskers, eyes, tendons and toenail bits, mush it up to form a glue type substance - stick it into confectionary, call it "collagen enriched" and then Harvey Nicks can sell it to Ivana Trump wannabes for £4 a bag.
Bargain."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0

I think Mrcow has summed this one up perfectly in one.0

 Bargain.
Actually it could be worse - this quote is from the wikipedia page on collagen:Recently an alternative to animal-derived collagen has become available. Although expensive, this human collagen, derived from donor cadavers, placentas and aborted fetuses, may minimize the possibility of immune reactions.

I particularly like the 'donor cadaver' concept.0
