Supermarkets work on the principle that the consumer, i.e. you the punter, cannot do mental arithmetic.
That is why the sell you what the want to sell you, that is why the Strawberries are first priced at £3.338 and you do not by. Then they sell them for half price and you are lured into buying a bargain. But you did not want to buy at the higher price did you? And the strawberries are actually tasteless!
Get out, go to you local grocer, butcher. And use your farmers market0 -

Strawberries will never taste as good as when you picked them from a farm shop, and secretly ate some ,before they got weighed. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0

Tesco are terrible for importing fruit and veg from abroad even when it's in season (and delicious in the case of strawberries) in this country. They probably pay slightly less per however many thousand kilos yet charge the same as they would for British produce, but as they say, every little helps!0 -
Waitrose and Marks and Spencer Strawberries are nice if you don't mind paying a bit more - Waitrose were £1.79 or £3.68 B.O.G.O.F on Ocado and M&S were £1.99.
Hope this helps0 -
When buying British strawberries from supermarkets try other varieties rather than Elsanta. They seem to have more flavour although they might not look so attractive ie darker colour or bigger seeds or irregular shapes.
Marks to a variety called Jubilee which to me seems to have a true strawberry flavour.0 -
the bogof items at tescos are a complete con these days. at least in the past the inflated prices didn't seem so obvious.0

We stopped shopping in Tescos last autumn due to our local store frequently having empty shelves.
We've been going to Sainsburys since and haven't wanted to go back to Tescos. The quality if far superior in every way and not really that much more - if at all, and we also don't have to suffer listening to the Tesco staff moaning to each other at the tills about how ill treated and down trodden they are.0 -
Sainsburys eh ? I've long thought Morrisons had the best offers. My shopping bills are always lower than tesco and sainsbury when I shop there, and the stuff is better.
theres regional differences all over I guess.I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven0
