a few veg questions

Hiya
In answer to your questions, I can help with the following:
Seed potatoes - now is the time to be looking and deciding what you want to plant. Most garden centres should have them in, although they tend to be bigger amounts. Depends on how much space you have. If you just want 10 for example, then Wilkinsons if you have nearby are ideal. I also understand poundland/poundworld/99p stores have some in.
Kale - back of pack says for sowing, all year for salad leaves under shelter, March - Aug for salad leaves outside, but as a green veg March to June for mature plants.
Onions - well you can plant at 2 times of the year - overwintering ones are generally done end of October to December, but you can also plant up to March or so for later crop.
Turnip - not grown these, so cant really advise without asking my gardening friends. Of course, your location will also have a bearing on how easy to grow.
I find joining a gardening forum useful as you can ask real life people these questions, rather than read books etc I tried several, and then found a one that I love and would now never be without! They are my bible! A great community too that love to talk about anything, not just gardening
Why not visit, and see if you can get some more information about the veg you are looking at? I am by no means an expert, am still only in my 4th year, and on the forum there is a whole wealth of experience we can learn from.
The forum is https://www.growveg.info
Hope to see you there :j

I'm feeling a bit diddled this year, T & M sent out my spuds as promised, but they sent them in 5 spud mini bags, so I only got 20 Charlottes, whereas normally you order them by weight, and you always get at least couple extra - some are pretty small too

My bag of Sante maincrop had 42 in and were a much better size.
Not knocking T&M in the slightest, as last year I had about 50% more in number than I'd anticipated going by seed spuds per kilo, but based on that info I seem to have under-ordered for 2010 - GRRR!!!
Perhaps next year I should just buy from the garden centre, as I tend to eye and measure up my plot up by numbers of plants. Hey-ho!0 -
thanks to everybody who helped, I have it on my calender now
