Hi, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section I do apologise if I have; I just couldn't find a suitible place to post it.
Anyway here is my problem:
Okay, the reason why I want to do this is because the doller is so low at the moment it'll only cost me £550 pounds from the .com website but something like £800 from the .es website. There is a chance of a £250 saving but apple.com wont send it to Spain. Unfortuantely I cant think of anyone to send it to who I can then send to spain for me. So is there an alternative like a postages company like UPS or something where I can send it to there headquaters and they then send it to spain?
Could anyone provide me with an idea and if you think this idea of mine will work? Any links will be great thanks.
Thanks in advance
NIck

Okay my best idea was to send the mac to my dads friend (whos somone I've known since I was a boy) then get a UPS van to drive to his house pre-payed postage and then send it to me. So basically all my dads friend has to do is just be there whenit comes and when the UPS van arrives and also to change the address on the box? This is the best alternative in my opinion but if anyone else has any other alternatives then I'd be very greatful.0

Well that will work.
There _are_ "PO BOX forwarding address" companies you can use in the states to provide this kind of service for you by the way. They exist, they're there to use. Whether or not you trust them is another thing.
As I know nothing about importing goods into Spain, I'll mention a couple of things you might want to consider that I'd worry about importing goods like that into the UK in the way you describe and you can decide if they are a problem for you.
1. Liability - what happens if the laptop goes missing? Or gets damaged?
2. Import duties - what kind of customs fees might you have to pay?
3. What happens if you have to return the laptop at any time during its lifetime? If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Yeah, I was looking at these issues and I was thinking is it worth the extra £150? I'd get the parcel itself insured but if the laptop breaks apple wouldn't fix it for me. I was thinking perhaps if it breaks I could send it to a private guy who could then fix it?
However, I looked at the UPS fee for the parcel pickup and delivery. In total it would cost roughly $250 dollers so the price works out about the same. I was thinking that I might aswel buy it from the apple.es website for £710 but would I be able to get the keyboard and manuals in English I dont know? I'd much rather it be an English laptop rather then a spanish.
Thanks for your advice. I will investigate these couriers further but something tells me they'll want about £150 anyway.
Times like this I wish I lived in america.
Edit: Okay apple do sell English keybords with the mac but takes 3 more days to arrive. Also the American version doesn't come with the remote control which is $30 but the Spanish one does. Also I could look on Ebay you can get a mac refurbished for £500 but I think the specs are a little worse and also obviously the quality.0
