The missus has decided she wants a new kitchen, fair enough I thought I'll design it and get my mate to fit as he works for well known kitchen company. I downloaded the Ikea kitchen planner cos it's free and all went fine until.....I can't find how to put a sink into the design, can find sink units but for the life of me cannot find a sink, does anyone know how or point me to some free kitchen design software.

When you click on the sink unit list and put a unit in the plan, on the left of the screen there is a drop down list and on there is a option for the sinks, taps, worktops etc.
But if you read on here ikea sinks/taps are supposed to be pooh and even the staff at our local store said the fancy tap with the wire effect wrapped round it is crap and always leaks!!
NiallSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
buy a sink from another place, but just put an ikea one in the drawing just to make sure it all fitts. the trick is you need a bigger cupbord that the size of yout sink bowl0

well with that idea you will have a problem as ikea cuboards etc are not nessecarily the same standard sizes as everyone else but suppose will give you general idea but only that.
you would be better getting a proper plan done from wherever you choose to buy from as they will have there own software which will do that and they may point you in direction of something you had not thought of as well.0 -
I'm going through the same process, I found that the Ikea software sucks, as did all the other free stuff I tried. Found it much quicker and easier in the end to buy a pad of graph paper and some pencils!Je suis Charlie.0

I did that too but took too long colouring in the cupboards lol.
:rotfl:The wife only wants to see which finish would look best and what would tall units look like. She wants a very good idea of what she likes before we do the rounds to the shops, we found when we wanted a bathroom that a lot of designers don't really listen to the client but just do their own thing.
Salesmen who will not listen, very annoying. BUT they do have access to professional software which is much, much better than anything you can get for free.Je suis Charlie.0 -
I used the B&Q free planner recently. You do have to register on the site to use it, but it's quite good. Nice to get a 3D view of the kitchen when you're finished.0
