Blue ikea bags

i had my dad looking around for some builders sacks to use to grow potatoes in and then i found 2 big blue ikea bags in my draw an i wondered if anyone has used them for growing potatoes in? and if there any good?

  • The only thing that I could see being an issue is the height of the bags, not much room for earthing up and for the tubers to re shoot?

    I'm not speaking from first hand experience but I think they'll be fine, although as mentioned might be a bit short.
    They're definitely sturdy enough as I use them to carry firewood into the house.
    At least something good has come from IKEA.:p

    im sure ive heard spuds need to be grown in sacks that dont let light through - most people use large compost bags, turned inside out
