Sally, would suggest that you enrol in a literacy class at your nearest colleage (reading module would be good).

How on earth will this claim end up on the guy's car insurance when he caused the damage?

Car Insurance covers Own Damage + 3rd Parrty Damage. There was no 3rd party involved.

Aren't you supposed to tell insurers of all accidents and/or losses regardless of fault when you get a quote for a policy?
Given there is damage to the house that will be a loss (which occurred while the insured was driving) regardless of who caused it.
That being the case I would have thought that when car insurance renewal comes up, it'll have to be declared and could well increase the premium.

it should be declared to the motor insurers, but that doesnt mean that they will pay for the wall! No 3rd party involved

I appreciate that they may not pay for the wall but I you suggested that it wouldn't end up on dis driving insurance records when you said "How on earth will this claim end up on the guy's car insurance when he caused the damage?".
    I'm suggesting that it will.

Who pays for it is another matter entirely!!

If I had comprehensive insurance and it was me, I'd expect my car insurance to pay out. From the buildings insurer's perspective, the accident was not their fault so they'd be looking to claim back all costs.

    Your expectations would be thwarted!

As has already been explained (and is written for you to read in your policy!), the policyholder and named drivers are not covered under the policy for any damage they do to their own property!

Dear me - there are some numpties on this thread.
Car Insurance covers Own Damage + 3rd Parrty Damage. There was no 3rd party involved.
Is absolutely correct. There is no way that the motor insurers will concern themselves with damage to the property.
The home insurer will assess if there is any prospect of subrogation. On the basis that the driver also owns the home, clearly there would be no prospect of recovery. Only an idiot claims processor would try to pursue this route.
I wouldn't lay long odds against this.
On some policies impact is only covered if by Third Party Vehicle
    True but irrelevant.
