Laptop wont charge!

Options
I have an acer aspire 5620z about 18 months old.

Was charging fine up until about 10minutes ago, its all plugged in correctly and the power light is on on the battery pack on the charger but it wont actually charge the laptop!

Any ideas?

TIA

  • Does the laptop work when connected to the charger? If not you may have the classic connector problem.

I had a similar problem recently in that my laptop would only charge if I held the cable in a certain position. Took it to a repair shop who said it was a loose connection in the cable part so he took it off, repaired it and taped it up (neatly). Not pretty but only cost £20.

Was it the cable itself he repaired then covered with tape?

  • Right im now on the pc which is slower than a tortoise in hibernation due to lack of ram  its just taken me an hour to turn it on and get on here

Lappy is now dead, took battery out and left charger in the lappy wont boot up with just the charger, as tiff said with hers if i hold it in a certain place then it will start to charge which to me would mean it was more a case of a loose connection in the charger rather than a fault with the battery itself??

While im here my other lappy dell latitude d600 wont connect to the internet either wirelessly or via lan.
Through windows wireless it says that no wireless networks have been found.
Through the dell wireless it comes up with limited or no connectivity invalid ip address.
Through lan it also comes up with invalid ip address.
Tried renewing the ip through command prompt and it is still saying the same thing!

Any ideas on that one so that i can use the internet for now a bit faster than snail pace :rotfl:
